Hanami in Japan
Hanami literally means “flower viewing” in Japanese. Each year, for just a few days, life in Japan revolves around the blooming of cherry blossoms. Locals and visitors alike gather in parks, around castles and temples, to be mesmerised by this fleeting spectacle.
For the Japanese soul, cherry blossoms are also a quiet reminder of impermanence —of the beauty found in things that do not last.
This series, photographed during my first steps in photography back in 2018, aims to document hanami as an aesthetic experience —intimate, contemplative, and deeply rooted in the rhythm of nature.
