December in Thailand

Thailand is one of the most visited countries in Southeast Asia. Paradise-like beaches —some so crowded they’ve had to be closed to protect the coral reefs—, amazing food, warm and welcoming people, affordable prices... It’s easy to find yourself surrounded by tourists wherever you go.

Or is it?

Sometimes, it’s enough to take a few steps off the beaten path; to walk through pineapple fields until someone invites you in for a homemade shot, to watch rubber being harvested deep in the jungle, to exchange a smile with an old fisherman in a floating Muslim village when all you can say is salaam. That Thailand exists too.

And even in the most touristy places, it’s possible to notice the quiet things, curious moments, overlooked details, unexpected geometries... Glimpses that allow you —even if just on the surface— to discover another side of Thailand.
